Citibank Credit Card Rewards
Citibank has a great credit card rewards program that provides some surprising and creative benefits to a variety of customers. You can access Citibank credit card rewards via three of its premium credit cards that are tiered to suit different incomes and spending levels. While the rewards program is largely the same for each card, there are some slight differences depending on the level of credit card you choose.
The rewards catalogue is quite large, and the points structure remains competitive on the overall market. When combined with the value-oriented nature of the Citibank credit cards themselves, the Citibank rewards program will be an attractive proposition for many people looking for the best credit card rewards programs on the market.
Details, terms and conditions are all subject to change without notice, so always double check information with the relevant financial institution. The Citibank rewards program is accessible through the Silver, Gold and Platinum credit card options. While each card has its distinct features and advantages, they are all comparable and the rewards program remains largely the same for each card. Each card offers interest free days, and there are no real sticking points from a rewards program point of view.
There is a broad catalogue that encompasses a large variety of rewards, and the points structure is definitely at the competitive end of the market. You can choose from a range of vouchers, travel, merchandise and cash back into your credit card account.
On top of the gifts you can choose, which range from movie tickets to Red Balloon trips away, you can take advantage of Citibank's Take Flight Cashback offer. This works by crediting your account with a cash-back amount when you pay for travel with the appropriate credit card. While you don't receive an astounding amount back (around $30 per minimum $5000 spend), it is still a potential reward that is worthy of acknowledgment.
As far as airline rewards go, Citibank is no doubt working on some new offers to suit these customers. An existing deal that allowed Rewards points to be transferred to Qantas Frequent Flyers is void in April 2009, but Velocity points can still be transferred (although at reduced rate of 1 Velocity point for 1.5 Citi Rewards). The minimum Velocity trade amount is 10,000 points.
If you do plan to travel with your Citibank credit card, it is worth looking into the Citibank World Privileges discount program. It can gain you up to 25% off if you use your Citibank credit card at selected outlets.
Make sure you pick the right card to suit your estimated spending limit - each card has a maximum amount of points you can earn (listed above). The points do not expire though, and if you do go for the big boy Platinum credit card, make sure you use the 'Personal' rewards option.
Citibank challenges you to think of a reward you want, and it will endeavour to provide it and give you an estimate on the number of points you need to make the claim. All Citibank rewards cards have a points plus pay option for when you need to make up the difference.
